Preservatives
Preservatives are natural or synthetic substances or chemicals added to foods to prevent or inhibit spoilage. Preservatives may be antimicrobial (which inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi and mold growth) or antioxidant (which inhibit the oxidation of food constituents).
